This non-credit week-long youth camp will be offered in-person on the NAU Flagstaff campus and is open to all youth in grades 4-8.

Come and explore your artistic self through creative writing in this weeklong day camp with assistance from expert instructors. Discover the power of words and how they can be used to shape worlds, both imagined and real. You’ll focus on poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction.
Young Authors will experience:
- techniques and forms such as six-word stories, ballads, monologues, microblogs and found poetry
- daily writing prompts designed to spark creativity and sharpen our capacity for observation
- discussions and activities to enrich our understanding of ourselves and others in a safe and collaborative space
- writing workshops to develop editing and revision skills
- campus-oriented field trips to acquaint ourselves with the arts and letters at NAU
- a zine-making workshop with hands-on practice using zine-making supplies
Note to parents: Please register with your child’s name. Multiple children from a family must have separate accounts.
Required permission forms and waivers must be completed before the course start date. These forms will be emailed to you after registration.
