Thursdays, 4:30-5:30 p.m. Arizona time, September 16 – November 18 (10 weeks)

Beginning college brings many exciting and new experiences into our lives. Much is happening for our Lumberjacks during the first six weeks of the semester – meeting a new roommate and friends; finding their classes on campus; and adjusting to the academic expectations of their professors to name a few. All of these things are thrilling, but they can also cause stress and anxiety that is normal for starting a new journey.

To support you, our Lumberjack families, we are offering a Family Support Workshop to address how you can deal with mental health issues that college students may experience, helping your student while taking care of yourself. You will have access to online resources supported by live, interactive Zoom meetings starting on September 16th for 10 weeks on Thursdays from 4:30 – 5:30 p.m. Arizona time.

Topics addressed include:

• NAU resources to support your Lumberjack
• Overview of mental health issues
• Coping with homesickness
• Communication issues – dealing with conflict
• Tips to manage stress
• Helping parents cope with their own emotional experiences

It is highly recommended that participants attend all 10 sessions. This course is full! Please contact ContinuingEd@nau.edu to be added to a wait list!
